CQC Report 2015

Message from The Old Forge Surgery Doctors to our patients

 

As you will be aware our practice was inspected in April by the Care Quality Commission, along with other surgeries in the area. This is part of a new and extremely tough inspection regime and a lot of practices are being required to make changes under the new system.

As you will see from the report we were given an overall rating of inadequate, which we are obviously extremely disappointed about. The CQC found that we are a caring practice and this was evidenced to them from surveys and questionnaires that, you our patients, have completed and by interview with patients and feedback you have left for us.

The issues that lead to this rating were primarily systems and processes rather than direct patient care. For example some policies had not been reviewed in the timescale that had previously been indicated and they felt that some information from practice meetings could be passed to the wider team where this was appropriate. The reason we received this rating in different groups of patients was that our Asthma attendance did not meet local or national average for the year 2013 -2014. But in year 2014 we exceeded the target set for this disease area.

Unfortunately our CQC visit came at a time when our practice was experiencing an unprecedented set of events with regards to GP partners’ illness and retirement, which did have some impact on our ability to cope with this.

We do however take all issues raised very seriously and are making good progress towards rectifying these areas.

We would like to assure you that your care is of utmost importance to us and we will continue to provide this in a caring and professional way.
